In “Drawing #2: Ruff” (2023), my third graphite drawing in this series, I endeavor to capture the essence of the human experience through the medium of paradoxical symbolism. Portraying a balloon dog in the midst of the act of defecation, it’s spiked collar creates a juxtaposition with its vulnerability, suggesting a blend of control. This collision of vulnerability and control mirrors the delicate balance we all seek to maintain as we navigate the challenges and pressures of existence.
As an artist, I am drawn to themes that explore the human psyche and the intricacies of our emotional landscape. Through “Drawing #2: Ruff,” I aim to initiate a dialogue about vulnerability, authenticity, and the inherent contradictions that define the human condition. By presenting a seemingly light-hearted subject matter with underlying depth, I invite viewers to engage in introspection and embrace the paradoxes that make us unique and complex beings.
